Presiding Elder Bruce Gibson
Rev. Bruce B. Gibson was born and raised by the late Rev. Louis C. and Mrs. Mary J. Gibson, of Painesville, Ohio. He was educated in the Painesville City Public School District and upon graduation from Harvey High School he enlisted into the United States Marines. He was honorably discharged in 1972 as a Staff Sergeant and Financial Auditor. Rev. Gibson retired from Morton Salt as an explosive specialist for 40 years. Though Rev. Gibson retired from Morton Salt in 2007, he continues to work on staff as a full-time Consultant.
He is a graduate of Lake Erie College with a Bachelor of Science degree in Business Administration. He attended Ashland Theological Seminary where he received a Master of Divinity. He is the past NAACP President for the Lake County Chapter. He has served as the Treasurer of the Ohio-Central Indiana Annual Conference; served as a committee member for The Commission on Ministry for the Ohio-Central Indiana Annual Conference; and has been a delegate to The General Conference of the Christian Methodist Episcopal Church for ten (10) Quadrennials.
Rev. Gibson accepted the call to preach the Word of God at age 25 and has been a pastor for 47 years. His past charges are Sims Chapel, Farrell, PA; Christian Temple, Akron, OH; Calvary C.M.E., Painesville, OH; Bethel C.M.E., Canton, OH; Porters Memorial, Sandusky, OH; Parkwood C.M.E., Lane Metropolitan C.M.E. in Cleveland, OH; and, Phillips Chapel CME Church, Youngstown. He is currently the proud Presiding Elder of the Cleveland-Pittsburgh District and pastoring, once again with delight, at Bethel CME Church, Canton, OH.
Rev. Bruce B. Gibson is still a resident of Painesville, Ohio where he resides with his lovely wife of 46 years, Rev. Hope Gibson. He has two sons, Rev. Ian Sean Gibson, the pastor of Metropolitan CME Church, Cincinnati, OH, and Louis Bernard Gibson, an Officer at Ohio State University, Columbus, OH. He is blessed with two lovely daughters-in-law Bethany (Ian) and Martina (Louis); four (4) precious grandchildren, Ruby, Benjamin, Malia, and Charlotte.
